Design and manufacture of electronic instrument boxes
Our partner commissioned us to design and manufacture an instrument housing with a price-performance ratio and quality that matches the budget of the project.
The housing contains the electronic controls of a water leak detection device, which notifies the owner by e-mail if the valuable potable water is leaking.
The box had to be both flexible and strong because of its snap-fit joint to prevent the assembled parts from moving or being damaged if dropped.

The dimensions of the housing were designed to facilitate 3D printing as quickly as possible without the need for supporting materials. The production technology applied was FDM/FFF as this proved to be the most cost-effective given the quantity ordered.
This 3D
technology has also provided the option to manufacture custom-sized kink
protection materials at the interface between the data cable and the housing.

Once the design and prototype had been finalized, additive manufacturing of the quantity ordered was completed to the required standard. The housing contains the electronic controls of a water leak detection device, which notifies the owner by e-mail if the valuable potable water is leaking.
